Benefits of Auto Window Tinting
Superior Heat Rejection
High-performance films cut solar heat (up to ~80% TSE/near 60% heat reduction), keeping cabin temps lower and reducing A/C load in Redding’s summer sun.
Industry-Leading UV Protection
Our automotive window films block more than 99% of harmful UVA/UVB rays, protecting skin, eyes and interior materials from fading and sun damage.
Automotive Interior Longevity
Window films protect upholstery, dash and trim from UV-driven cracking and fading. Keeping cars looking newer, longer and improving resale value.
Fuel & Energy Savings
Less cabin heat means less AC use, especially helpful for gas and electric vehicles, leading to improved fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs.
Reduced Glare & Safer Driving
Automotive window tinting reduces daytime and nighttime glare for better visibility, less eye strain, and a calmer, safer driving experience.
Shatter Resistance & Safety
Window tint films help hold broken glass together in collisions or vandalism, reducing flying shards and lowering injury risk for passengers.
Increased Privacy & Security
Darker rear and side films conceal valuables and discourage break-ins; combined with shatter-resistant film, tint adds an extra layer of security.
Sophisticated Custom Aesthetics
From soft charcoal to limo dark or virtually clear ceramic looks, film customizes your vehicle’s appearance while matching factory privacy glass.

Choosing the Right Window Tint
We make choosing a film simple. Reeves Window Tint in Redding, CA installs only top brands and premium film types so you get reliable performance and warranty coverage. Whether you want a nearly invisible UV blocker, a high-IR rejection ceramic, or a cost-effective dyed or carbon option, we’ll recommend the film that meets your needs for heat rejection, signal compatibility, legal VLT, and style. Enjoy a more confident ride knowing you and your family are protected from the sun’s harmful rays and heat.
-
A budget-friendly option that uses dye to reduce visible light and provide basic heat rejection. Dyed film offers privacy and UV protection (≈99% UV block) but is less effective at heat rejection than ceramic or metalized films. Dye is color-stable but offers the most economical performance.
-
Carbon films deliver improved heat rejection, excellent fade resistance, and zero signal interference. With a smooth, matte look and stable long-term color, carbon balances performance and value, no GPS or cell disruption, just refined appearance and reliable protection.
-
Metalized films provide solid heat and UV control but include metallic layers that can interfere with electronics (GPS, satellite radio, TPMS). Metalized is durable and reflective but less appropriate for modern cars with sensitive electronics.
-
The top choice for performance: ceramic films provide superior heat rejection, exceptional UV blocking, scratch resistance and no signal interference. Ceramic maximizes comfort and clarity and is recommended for owners who want the best IR/heat control without connectivity issues.
-
Spectra PhotoSync IRD is a leading infrared-rejecting film engineered to block up to 99% of IR and up to ~80% total solar energy rejection while maintaining visibility. It’s ideal for electric vehicles (helping preserve range), luxury cars and hot climates, delivering maximum heat control without metallic interference.

Things to Consider
Frequently Asked Questions
-
California front side windows must allow at least 70% VLT (Visible Light Transmission), meaning the darkest legal front side tint can block up to about 30% of visible light. The top 4″ of the windshield may have non-reflective tint; rear side and rear windows may be darker with dual side mirrors. When choosing film, we always confirm your desired shade stays within California law so you get maximum heat and UV protection without risking fines or forced removal. Reeves provides compliant installs, the required manufacturer certificate and the DMV/installer sticker to prove compliance.
-
Performance varies by film type. Modern ceramic and Spectra PhotoSync films can achieve up to ~80% total solar energy rejection and block more than 99% of UV. Practically, that translates to interior surface temps dropping by as much as 20–30°F in direct sun, dramatically reducing fading, protecting passengers, and lowering A/C usage. We’ll show you manufacturer specs and explain tradeoffs so you pick the film that best meets comfort and protection goals.
-
Not with ceramic or carbon films. Metalized films can block signals because of the metallic particles used. We recommend ceramic or Spectra PhotoSync for modern vehicles, these films provide superior IR and UV rejection without affecting electronics, GPS, satellite radio, or keyless systems.
-
Most passenger vehicles are completed in about three hours in our climate-controlled shop. Same-day appointments are usually available; larger vehicles, specialty cuts, or paint-protection film (PPF) may take longer. We do every install indoors to ensure a flawless, debris-free finish.
-
All factory films we install carry the manufacturer’s warranty (many LLumar and Spectra PhotoSync products include a lifetime limited warranty against bubbling, fading and delamination). Reeves also stands behind every install with a 30-day workmanship warranty. If anything related to our installation appears (most issues show up in the first week or two), bring it in and we’ll correct it at no charge. Note: manufacturer warranties cover product defects; normal wear, accidental damage, or consumer misuse may be excluded. We’ll always review the specific warranty terms with you at pickup.
-
Wait 5–7 days before cleaning to allow adhesives to set (follow care notes we provide). Use an ammonia-free cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth; avoid abrasive pads and razor blades. Proper care prevents scratching and keeps films clear. If you notice bubbling, peeling, or discoloration during the warranty period, bring the vehicle in and we’ll assess under warranty.

Yes, high-IR rejection films (Spectra PhotoSync or premium ceramics) reduce cabin heat so your EV uses the HVAC less. Less AC use can preserve 3–5% of range (or more in extreme heat). For EV owners, IR-focused films are an excellent investment in comfort and operational efficiency.
